At the urging of influential and influencing influences
I offer this brief History
(If I missed a name or a credit, send me an e-mail, ok?)
First, I was exposed to classical music (still a fave) at 6 yrs old. While going to school in Toronto, my first adventure with a rock 'band' was a ragtag bunch of pickup musicians (Craig Richardson on drums, son of Jack Richardson, Producer/Guess Who) We heard lots of great music-biz stories in those days, adding to the magic (thanx Jack) The Ugly Ducklings rehearsed across the street. Our first paying gig together was at the 'Moose Lodge' where we earned a whopping $7.00
I was hooked and never looked back
At 14 yrs old, I moved to the Village in Toronto (Yorkville) where the influences rolled. I played with 'Leather' a successful underground band back then .. We recorded an album at Eastern Sound, with (R.I.P.) Felix Pappalardi producing (of Cream). The album disappeared, as these things will. Go figger. Even *I* don't have a copy of that album. Anyone holding a copy will be rewarded handsomely, for a dub.
We all had the pleasure of growing up 'musically' with the likes of Kensington Market, Luke and the Apostles, The Ugly Ducklings, Neil Young, McKenna-Mendelsohn Mainline, Mandela, Guess Who, David Clayton Thomas .. and many many more. Those were heady, exciting, extremely fun times, although the memories are somewhat blurry today
(R.I.P. Bernie (the Attorney) Soloman, Dominic Triano, Rick Lamb, Buzz Sherman, Brian Pilling, John Gray (P.D.R.) .. thanx for everything you gave to us, and so much more)
I met Alex Machin .. we formed 'Island', another well known band of the time, although our wallets didn't reflect it. Kim Hunt (Dirty White Boys, Moxy) was our drummer extraordinaire. Alex Machin (FOOT) has now joined up w/Moxy as frontman/vocalist
(Much Good luck Alex. Hiya Kim - Hiya Ed)
We met the boys of Nucleus, and quickly joined them. Hot band of the late 60's. Hands down, those were some of the best times of my life. 4 springs farm. WOW. Wonder if Bill Lishman is still flying with the birds?
A FOOT IN COLDWATER was born. A few singles and four albums later, we enjoyed a great ride & quite a bit of success
FOOT - 1975
(Myself, Bob Horne, Ken Friesen, Hugh Leggat, Dan Taylor, Alex Machin, John Anthony)
(Ken - our engineer for album 3, and John Anthony (of Queen) co-produced w/FOOT)
'Make Me Do Anything You Want', 'In My Life', 'Love is Coming', were our bigger singles .. plus scattered success with a few more. We still get a fair amount of airplay in Canada, with several pieces. We broke up in '77.
I put a link to 'Anything You Want' on the download page. I'll leave it up until someone complains (as someone surely will)
I moved on to Lost Angles, Cal .. formed a group with Alex again, but we went our seperate ways. Played with Steppenwolf as a sideman, and eventually moved to Palm Springs, Ca, where family life kept me from touring (two great kids, no regrets there)

Kneeling Peregrinos c. BFF ArtWerks, 2006 (Donahey)
It was there (Palm Springs) that I eventually decided to write and record new music & stop touring altogether. I still work with some excellent lyricists, (Lynn DeFino, Matthew Robertson (NZ) & Kathy Donahey, of course)
I've designed & built several fully outfitted, state-of-the-art, 24 & 48 track Studer Tape, SSL and Nieve Consoles and either ProTools/Nuendo Hard Disc recording system studios, between 1985 - to the Present
..... in Austin (TX), Palm Springs (CA), Santa Fe (NM), Taos (NM)
At present, I have a workshop-studio (Nuendo-Hard Disc & Akai, Teac, Ampex, Studer Tape) in my home, in Taos, where I live today
Often, I still play as a hired gun guitarist for session work and play benefits with local musicians for local causes. I enjoy a great life here, with my Wife .. Kathy .. and many other annoying critters. Dogs, hedgehogs, chinchillas, fishes (The Naumann Zoo)
. . I still write and record my own songs & I'm always looking for soundtrack work (hell, ANY work) I collect guns and guitars (target guitars only) while enjoying the rural life & tranquility
I am currently researching and writing a first novel (fiction) yet another lifelong ambition .. along the lines of a Clancy/Tannenbaum
(Buy it when it's published, so I can write more books, ok?)
SO .. and thusly,
Enjoy the CD's. If not, please enjoy something. Life is too short
Footnote: Rude comments, criticism, taunts, gunshots, demands for payment, well meaning advice, people who rise before noon (and then call ME) ... will be ignored
(no exceptions)
Please write or sign the guestbook - I'd love to hear from you (see above)
Love Peace and Many Thanx . . .
